SHiiNE & ME

It is very hard to choose a name for something long term, such as your company. As many of you know that I use SHiiNE for my photography and blog, but have you ever wondered why SHiiNE and not my actual name. Some use their name as their brand identity to represent their work and some choose different names that represent themselves. As for me, I neither choose my name or any other name.

As far as I can remember, I didn’t decide to name it ‘SHiiNE’ but it eventually became a trademark of my personality and my works by itself. About ten years ago, I used this word in the first photo designs I ever made in my life as a simple quote, but I would have never thought it would become my own photography name. I actually got attracted to the word so much that I started using it for all my editing.

The word “shine” represents a positivity, brightness, and the power to change anything. That word always motivated me. It motivated me to be a better person and inspired me to work harder and shine among the stars and shine bright like the sun.

POSITIVITY, BRIGHT & POWER TO CHANGE…

It became my trademark and my personality as well. It made me a better person. I actually get to know me better and I can easily relate to the words ” shine ”. I always try to keep my entourage positive and I even get frustrated when someone thinks and talk so negative. I am always smiling and always tries my best to keep my entourage as happy as possible. KEEP SMILING & SHARE THE LOVE

I am more like an optimist person who always look at the bright side of the situation and always find a solution to any struggles that I ever faced. I never give up in any situation whether it is professional or personal. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I had to drop my studies, but I eventually went back to school and finish my studies. We all have up and downs in our lives, but it is wise to look at the bright side than thinking about the bad things and be sad over our situation. We only live once, so make the best out of it.I think with a simple smile and love, we have the power to change any situation that we face and make this world a better living.

LET YOUR SMILE ”SHiiNE”

I think SHiiNE suits me so much, I wouldn’t choose any other name. My personality is now my trademark for my works. I want to spread love and happiness as much as I can. Either through my personality or my photography, I want everyone to feel the joy of love, and in return, they share the same love with others.

Public Relations Part 1 – Communication

             Public Relations (PR) is a term that many of us, including me, aren’t familiar with.  In the beginning, I had no clue what was all about.  I wanted to go back to school and escape from the 9-5 job that I have and discover something new. While surfing on-line about different programs offered by CEGEPs and university, I discovered this program about PR and Communication Management and it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. Since I wanted to do something that suits my personality and my skills, I decided to apply for this program without any hesitation. I am almost done with the Certificate (30 credits) at McGill University and  I have an idea about it. I have to admit that I chose the right program because I just love it. I want to share with you what I have learned I also want to share  the five things in PR that I consider important and I will also describe my personality that belongs to each point.

What is Public Relation ?

Definition ( Merriem-Webster Dictionary ) 

• : the activity or job of providing information about a particular person or organization to the public so that people will regard that person or organization in a favorable way

• : the relationship between an organization and the public

Communicating

To begin let’s have another definition of what is communication. According to the same dictionary; communication is :

• : the act or process of using words, sounds, signs, or behaviors to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to someone else

• : a message that is given to someone : a letter, telephone call, etc.

            How much am I familiar with communication ? People who knows me. will also know how I communicate well and interact with others. I have always been very social and an outgoing person. It doesn’t take much to make new friends. My social skills sometimes put me in trouble, well I guess this is the negative side of being too much social. But on the other hand, I just do what I love : communicate and interact with others.

            Communication is about everything in life. If we don’t communicate with others, the world will not be as it is now.  It exists many types of communication; written, verbal, informal, formal and moreover body languages is also a type of communication.  In PR, written communication is one of the most important types. One must be able to write and write to be able to communicate.Communication includes listening as well. In order to proceed the transfer of the information, we do need a receptor too, which is the person who we want to communicate the information.

      Public Relations is mainly focused on effective communication and is about transferring the correct message with the correct tool(s) to develop and maintain a good relationship with the public or within the organization.

Part 2 -Research and Planning 

Life is good with Jesus

In the early 2000’s, many of our young Tamil community members were involved in street gang activities. It was, in fact, a big issue for our Tamil diaspora teenagers during that period of time, where they were lacking guidance and searching for their own identity. In the recent time, our teenagers take everything for granted, but for our previous generations was not as easy as it is now. They had many barriers, such as languages problem, poor education background, financial issues and difficulty adapting to their new culture. As they were caught up in a difficult lifestyle, they were pulled into wrong path and their destinies changed forever. It is hard to change this kind of lifestyle. Few of them overcame from this struggling life and one of them is John Pathmanathan. As a matter of fact, who is he?

John Pathmanathan is a pastor based in Toronto, Canada, ministering around the World and he is currently working with The Gideons International in Canada since 2014 where his goal is to distribute as many as possible free Bible around the world. He also raising funds for his campaign Gospel for India.  He found Jesus in 1998 through the same Gideons Bible ministry and since then, he didn’t stop serving the Lord through his ministry.

He was born in Sri Lanka in the early 80’s and moved to Germany at the age of 10 months due to the civil war that occurred in the country. He was raised by his single mother. They moved to Toronto, Canada in 1992. Soon after, he was trying to find his own identity when he was initially attacked by his peers by racial comments on his first day of school. In high school, he started hanging out with the wrong people and involved in street gangs activities. He wanted to be accepted by others and wanted to defend himself.

      In 1998, he was arrested for the first time by the police for opening fire in a school parking lot. Meanwhile, his mother attended a Tamil Christian church service in Toronto and start praying for him. By God’s love and mercy, she found the peace that she was looking for her and her son. Meanwhile, in the prison, discouraged, he found the love and peace of Jesus through Gideons Bible distributed by the Bible ministries. He started going to church with his mother, but he was still living his old lifestyle, where he got into a bigger mess, suicidal thoughts, his family lost hope on him and once again end up in the jail in 2001. But the Lord’s love and mercy found him again and touched him with another Gideons minister’s Bible. He decided to give his life to Jesus as he was sitting in the prison cell. From that day, he saw his life changing for good and he allowing Jesus to live through him. His full testimony can be found online.

Montreal Visit in 2016

Pastor John visited Montreal Tamil churches for the first time in March 2016. We had the opportunity to welcome him to our Church (PLCC) Youth service on Sunday morning. He is a very humble Minister of God.  I was blessed to attend the service and witness his love for God and the Bible. I was able to feel his relationship with God throughout his message. It was an eye-opening service for many of us who had the chance to listen to his message. As we all know, worship is when we sing and praise God, but he actually gave us a different definition. For Pastor John, worshipping is not only singing and praising the Lord, but it is a unique relationship that we experience with God. He also mentioned about second life. He gave us an example about the second-hand smoke kills more people than people who actually smokes. Alike, our second-hand life will kill us. As Christians, we have to live only for the Lord. Another thing I liked in his message is when he said that we should not let the Satan question us, because when he start questioning us, he can distract us from our destiny. By all means, life is great with Jesus. Please do watch his testimony, because he is an inspiration for many as well as me.

                We are hoping to see him once again in Montreal for another powerful and blessing message.

JR Raphael

The multinational company Samsung released the newest smartphone last week; the Samsung Galaxy S7. It is powered by the latest Android software, the MARSHMALLOW OS 6.0. Android is an operating system for smartphones developed by Google. In the recent year, Android is one of the main operating systems in the world for the smartphones. Without any compromise, Android’s biggest concurrence is IOS Apple.
Therefore, we use these smartphones and tablets powered by Android or IOS to browse online and focus on different applications available that provide us a faster and quicker way to connect with the world of technology. There are many platforms that allow each and everyone to express and share their thoughts. These platforms are used to express ourselves on various themes and subjects such as fashion, photography, travel and many more. It is possible to find one person in particular who combined technology and writing into one theme. Jr Raphael, from the United States of America, is a blogger who shares his knowledge and diverse social media platform to connect and communicate with his readers and followers around the world.

Jr Raphael is a syndicated blog writer and contributing editor at Computerworld and Infoworld. Syndicated stories are usually short and based on a precise theme and these articles are sold through distribution services via the Internet.  As it is, JR is also part of the syndicated distribution service where his article on Android and its gadgets are sold. He is also the author and writer at AndroidPower. He launched AndroidPower in 2010, where he write about the various subject about Google, but mainly focused on Android smartphones and ‘smart gadgets’.

The digital blogger is predominantly active on social Medias, such as Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. Raphael’s Twitter account is followed by around 12,000 followers. His Google+ accounted has almost 900,000 followers and finally his Facebook page is liked by more than 7,000 people. It is possible to see the number of followers that he has is very high, especially on Google+. Quite simple to guess, his main topic is only about Google and Android, which is the key factor to attract more followers on Google+. Moreover, some of his short articles appeared in The Washington Post, NBCNews.com, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

  He also reviews android gadgets and devices in his blog. He has his own website, http://www.jrstart.com where it is possible to find his stories from his different social media sources, such as from twitter.  His personal portal is divided into four section: Reviews, Analysis, Tips and Tricks and finally In Depth. These four sections are strictly about Android and Google

When you what you are passioned about, you will never work one day in your life. I am hoping to succeed in what I am really passionate about. I will keep you updated, until then see you with another post soon.

My first writing

Canada is one of the largest countries to welcome immigrants. The country gives them also various opportunity and equal rights as a Canadian by blood. As we see. many of them achieve in a higher level in multiple domains, such politics, business, and much more.

             Following these descriptions, there is one person seeking the attention of everyone and makes most of the Canadian immigrant proud in the recent time. Harjit Singh Sajjan, born in India in 1970, immigrated to Vancouver, BC. Five years later. His father is a well-known person among the Sikh community and a member of the World Sikh Organization. Sajjan became the first Sikh to command a Canadian Army in 2011, which makes him special in many ways. Now, he is a retired Lieutenant-Colonel in the Canadian Armed Forces and a combat veteran. He was deployed in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in three separate divisions in Afghanistan. He was recognized in many ways, such as the Meritorious Service Medal and he has the honor to hold the Order of Military Merit, one of the highest recognitions in the military.

             Moreover, he was a police officer for more than 10 years for the Vancouver Police Department. His last assignment as a police officer was as Detective-Constable among the Gang Crime Unit. Sajjan served the Vancouver Police as an organized-crime investigator. He also holds a title as a human security specialist, targeting audience in Canada and in the United States.

             Nothing made him stop. Once again, Sajjan proved that coming from another country does not stop him to prosper in Canada. He’s serving the Canada and his community on a larger scale. On the fourth of November, appointed by Justin Trudeau he became Minister of National Defence. He is also continuing to serve his community as a Member of Parliament from his riding of Vancouver South, since the 2015 federal election.

             This is a step further for the Canadian Sikh younger generations, where Harjit Singh Sajjan becomes a role model. More than anything, it makes every single Sikh  proud of. As a matter of facts, Sikhs faces many racist discriminations among the others. But, things are getting better slowly. Thanks to Sajjan for making the Sikh community stand in the crowd.
